Free Legal English Exercises, Plain English re-writes

Redrafting politician-speak into plain English

Please watch the video below to find out what I’d like you to in this plain English re-writing exercise.

In this week’s exercise, I’d like you to redraft one short text, a quote from a politician, into plain English (You’ve probably had lots of practice trying to understand what politicians are really saying!)

Here’s the text:
“The reliance of medicines and medical products’ supply chains on the short straits crossing make them particularly vulnerable to severe extended delays.”

Here’s the source article which is needed for context: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-49670123

End of week review / my comments:

The aim of this exercise is to make you think about how you can redraft language, yours or others, in a ‘plain English’ way.
